The Beta Beta chapter strives to live up to the high ideals of our founders and to “Do Good”. Nationally, Delta Gammas donate more than 90,000 volunteer hours each year to a variety of organizations, emphasizing service to our philanthropy—Service for Sight. Here in Canada, we fundraise and donate volunteer hours to Lions Club International by collecting and donating eye glasses, to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind through the collection of Campbell’s Soup Labels, and by organizing our biggest event of the year—Anchor Splash®.
Delta Gamma hosted its first Anchor Splash® in 1984 and, at the University of Alberta, it is the largest philanthropy event on campus. It is a week of fun and excitement involving sororities and fraternities serenading DGs, collecting Campbells Soup Labels, and Fundraising to earn as many points as they can! The week comes to an end with the main event of a swim-meet style competition concluding with the famous synchronized swimming routines. All proceeds from Anchor Splash® go to the charitable organizations of The United Way, The Canadian National Institute for the Blind and Lions Club International, and the Delta Gamma Foundation.
